Q: How's it going? Here's my situation, I've been dating this guy for 9 months, he's not just any guy, he is this super great guy that I like more than I have liked anyone ever before. He pulls out the "I love you" bit quite often and sometimes it slips and I say it back. But what is love? I mean, I know I like him alot, but I feel like love is a pretty big deal. We live in compleatly different states over the summer, and he tells me that I can visit him, only thing is that I can't afford to. He came and visited me for a few days, but he can't do any more becuase he works soo muh. He tells me that he will buy me a ticket, but I feel guilty esp. If I don't know if I am in love with him. So cut and dry what is love and- what do I do in all of those situations....??? Ohhh boy.

Keep it real DG

A: If you’re questioning it, it’s not love.

Love is when you have respect, butterflies, trust, passion, and a best friend bond. You want to be with each other always but also have independent interests. You would do anything for them and you actually do. You want to tell them all the little things that happen every day and you open up about the bigger life-changing events. You still get butterflies when the honeymoon stage is over. Your values match. You can’t imagine life without them. You have respect for them as a person – their values, their assets, even what they’re lacking.

All that sounds too perfect and unattainable and fairy tale-ish. That’s probably why I’m still Dating Girl and not Married Girl. I’m holding out!!

If he wants to buy you a ticket, let him and try to figure things out. Let him know that you really want to visit him but it’s just not feasible until you can save up for it.

Let me know what you think.

Hope that helps!

Love the Madness,
DG
