Q: Do I have to get my girlfriend flowers for Easter?

A: No, Easter isn't really a present holiday. I'd rather you get her flowers for a random day just because.

Q: Ok, so I'm a less-than-youthful outdoorsy kinda guy, divorced and all that (it's ok, I got the dog and the backcountry gear and my sanity, my ex's idea of roughing it was a less-than-four-star establishment...).

I see the glossy pix in the circulars etc where outdoorsy gals appear to litter the backcountry, attractively posed on sun-washed rock outcroppings all decked out in trendy upscale outdoor-chic finery and equipment.

But when I head out into the woods, generally all I see are other smelly, sweaty, sometimes-affable (or not) guys (or humans, in some cases it is not easy to discern gender...).

The few women I encounter who are distinguishable from all the other shaggy humans tend to be with significant others or even a gaggle of hangers-on.

I'm wondering, did I miss an email or memo or something? Or is it that I don't hang out in the "in" trendy corners of the great out of doors?

A: They are very hard to come by. And the girls in the circulars may just be airbrushed. So don't get discouraged; it's not you. If you're looking in the woods, you may just want to accept a little smelly and sweaty and know that they'll clean up when they get home!

Q: Met this girl BC skiing about a week ago, skied together most of the day, talked a lot. I thought we really hit it off, got her number and talked about getting together and skiing again. Called her and left a message but she has not called back. That was two days ago. So do I try to call her again, or by not calling me back is that her way of saying not interested or go away?? Thanks for your help.

A: She's probably not interested but you could try one more time if you're really into her. Don't try more than one more time though!

Q: Last night I was skiing with a girl that I've seen at the resort a few times. She was complaining one time about no one her age to ski with. Anyway, I saw her last night when I was getting ready to ski, so I spent about an hour with her. She was talking to some people when I was leaving, so I didn't get a chance to get her contact info. I Googled her, and have an email address - is it too stalkerish to email her, and see if she might want to ski with me again?

A: The google part is stalkerish but if you see her on facebook, that would be good. Try that route. Otherwise, you could email her but know she may not love the google part!
