Q: So I met this girl at work. She's hot, like not just the work hot, but really, really good looking hot. She's got an English accent as well, cause this matters. I have no idea what she does for fun or anything. She could even like the Lakers, but she's hot. Well she gave me her number and told me to call her. I called her and left a message. No reply. Sent a couple texts which she asked me to do. No reply. What's the deal with that?
Second question. During this same period I met a girl who is into everything that I like. Outdoors, Ultimate Frisbee, college football, hates the Lakers, etc. Basically like near perfect, but she's not as attractive as English chick. I have a date with Cute Chick on Friday, but I'm 'posed to call English Chick. Is this a bird in hand is worth two in the bush?
A: If English girl hasn't replied to your calls or texts, you should write her off and move onto Cute Chick. She sounds better anyway (at least for longer than a week or month). Yes, stick with the bird in the hand!
Good luck.
LMK what happens.

Q: If a boy and I were off to a great start that then kind of fizzled with his busy schedule, will not taking the initiative to contact him/make plans cause him to realize he misses me and should re-engage, or do I already have my answer?
A: You pretty much have your answer. If he was that into you, he wouldn't have fizzled. Sorry to say it. You can definitely give it another shot and call him but don't invest all your energy into it.

Q: Hello Dating Girl. Alright I have a question for you, so I got in contact with my High School crush after 8 years and we went out on a date and proceeded to hit it off all night followed by some heavy petting. How long is an acceptable period of time before I call her so it does not make it look like I am too needy? Thanks.
A: 1 day would be great. Very exciting! Let me know how it goes!!

Q: So what's your suggestion for getting out of "Friend Zone" quickly and efficiently?
A: You've gotta make a move. Kiss her, and not a friend kiss. Don't stick your tongue down her throat, but more than a peck! The worst that can happen is you have to move away so you never see her again.

Q: So, should my shirts be tucked in, or hanging out? Does it make a difference if it is a T or a button down casual?
Also, are trail runners OK for casual wear, or does that just look lame?

Q: Dear dating girl, need some help. Met this girl in my architecture class and invited her to a party. We were hitting it off and I ended up going home with her but we didn't hook up cause her roommate was there. None the less we fell asleep holding hands. Now we just hang out and text a lot. I invited her to this formal but she said she didn't want it to be too "date like," I asked her if it could be a little date like and she said sure. Is she just trying not to rush into a relationship or is the fact that nothing has happened in 2 weeks mean she's not into me. What do I do?
A: Guessing she's not that into you. She wouldn't have said that 'date like' thing if she was. You can keep going at it but don't get too invested until she allows a date-like date!

Q: Ok, so I'm a less-than-youthful outdoorsy kinda guy, divorced and all that (it's ok, I got the dog and the backcountry gear and my sanity, my ex's idea of roughing it was a less-than-four-star establishment...).
I see the glossy pix in the circulars etc where outdoorsy gals appear to litter the backcountry, attractively posed on sun-washed rock outcroppings all decked out in trendy upscale outdoor-chic finery and equipment.
But when I head out into the woods, generally all I see are other smelly, sweaty, sometimes-affable (or not) guys (or humans, in some cases it is not easy to discern gender...).
The few women I encounter who are distinguishable from all the other shaggy humans tend to be with significant others or even a gaggle of hangers-on.
I'm wondering, did I miss an email or memo or something? Or is it that I don't hang out in the "in" trendy corners of the great out of doors?
A: They are very hard to come by. And the girls in the circulars may just be airbrushed. So don't get discouraged; it's not you. If you're looking in the woods, you may just want to accept a little smelly and sweaty and know that they'll clean up when they get home!

Q: Last night I was skiing with a girl that I've seen at the resort a few times. She was complaining one time about no one her age to ski with. Anyway, I saw her last night when I was getting ready to ski, so I spent about an hour with her. She was talking to some people when I was leaving, so I didn't get a chance to get her contact info. I Googled her, and have an email address - is it too stalkerish to email her, and see if she might want to ski with me again?

Q: I've been dating this girl for a long while now, but the majority of it has sadly been long distance. We're beyond perfect when we're together, but it can get really tough from afar. Right around new years, we "broke up," but continue to talk as if nothing changed. From the night before and all the way through Valentine's day, I was completely ignored. I didn't get a phone call or anything. When I finally did talk to her, she continued to ignore anything I said, and never even said "Happy Valentine's day" nor did she thank me for the flowers I'd sent. I know I am not her boyfriend nor fiancee anymore (we were engaged), but am I wrong to feel so hurt and betrayed?
PS, the next day when she told me about the two previous days, she had hung out with one guy on that Saturday, then had dinner with him on Valentine's day. She says she's done nothing wrong. How is this supposed to make me feel?
A: You should feel bad but if you broke up, you broke up. Seems like she's moving on but stringing you along as well. You should try to move on. She's not that into you. So sorry to say it. Don't kill the messenger.

Q: I love this girl in my yoga class but it's way too zen to strike a conversation before class and after, we're all so sweaty. What do I do?
A: You have to just do it. Put your mat next to hers and talk about how hot the room is before class. Or about how hard crow was the class before. I agree if you're super sweaty, don't start up date conversation, but beforehand would work. You have to be quick about it!

Q: Do I have to get roses for my gf or can they be daisies? I'm poor.
A: They can definitely be daisies. Just write a really nice card. That's the most important part!

Q: Dating Girl,
I'm married but think I'm falling in love with the babes that work at Moosejaw. They are all very fun, and I just know they are all hot.
Since I bet you think I'm slime and won't help me, can you ask them to be less funny and sweet on the phone?
A: Really good input. I'll pass the request along.

Q: Dating Girl. Please help me get my girlfriend back. She caught me cheating with her friend but I really didn't mean it and love her.
A: You may not be able to fight this one. You would have to build up her trust again slowly by respecting her day in and day out. Cheating is a big breach of trust and with her friend makes it sting that much more. In any case, try to win her back by being a great guy and great boyfriend but it may not work this time...

Q: I understand that for girls 'the chase' is a big part of the fun of starting to date a guy. If I'm totally into a girl how do I balance making sure she knows I'm crazy about her but yet keeping it a bit of a chase for her?
A: If it's in the beginning, just don't call her every hour and send flowers daily. You can send a text during the day but don't go back and forth for an hour if she isn't responding with a question you need to answer. You can call her at night but don't call again if you leave a message and she doesn't call back. You could send flowers after the 2nd or 3rd date, but don't send them before the 2nd and 3rd date.
Very exciting!

Happy New Year's!
When you're making your NY Res, don't make it anything too hard. Relaxing more is a really good one. Or watching more Jersey Shore...
