Q: Dear Dating Girl,
What should I do or where should I go to meet cool women who are 50? Thanks.

A: Internet is probably the easiest way. There are a ton of people so you'll have to weed out the cools but it'll be the biggest pool. Another good place is the gym. Or maybe the coffee shop but you'd have to be outgoing for that.

Hope that helps.

Q: It seems that every time I meet a girl that I think is cute and has a nice personality, she has a boyfriend. It's happened the last 5 times I've asked a girl for her number, and I know they were telling the truth because I checked their facebook pages. How come the girls I fall for are always taken, and what can I do about it?

Loving the Madness all by myself.

A: You just have to keep on trying. And trying and trying. It sucks but not much you can do. I went out with a married guy once and didn't even notice his ring, so that shows you how bad it can be!

Flowers, tho nice, are really a lame present for Christmas in my opinion. Just a little thought and a nice present, ex. any jewlery, if cold in your area hat and scarf, anything but flowers. Those are good for valentines day, special thinking of you, etc. Hope this helps...28 yrs happly married and counting.

A: Love the 2 cents! Thanks for helping out.

Q: I have been dating my girlfriend for 3 years. I want to know a good time of the year to ask her to marry me. Can you help me? I'm moving in with her soon so it is very serious. She is 7 years older than me. Please help. Thanks for your help again.

A: Any time of year is a good time to get engaged! Really, if you're ready, don't wait for a better season. Winter can be great with all the snow and summer with the sun. Just make sure you tell her how amazing she is and all the reasons you love her. The harder it is to say, the better it is to hear.

Hope that helps.
Good luck and let me know!

Q: I was dating this girl for 4 months. I met her family and went out to dinner with them, and she met mine and things were going well. Then, about a week ago she spent the weekend with her sister up in this mountain town and I barely heard from her which was strange because she always wanted to talk on the phone before she went to bed. Then, the night she got back she called me crying and said that she was sorry but she needed to figure things out for her future and couldn't be 100% in this relationship and that I didn't do anything wrong and I was by far the nicest guy she had ever dated and I treated her really well, she just needed to figure her own things out and the timing wasn't right but she wanted to remain friends. So then the next day I tried to call her and didn't get through and she hasn't called me back and it has been a week. In my opinion, she just stopped liking me for whatever reason but was too afraid to tell me. What are your thoughts on the situation? Why would you say you want to be friends still when it doesn't make sense?

A: She may have met someone else on her trip or she started thinking about someone else. In any case, she doesn't really think you'll be friends, she just wanted to soften the blow. It's like saying "how are you?" - just a nice thing to do. Sorry about it but the fact that she didn't call you back for a week says that she's not really into you as a boyfriend or friend. Sorry to be the messenger.

A: Very tough to get one of the MJ ladies! And the mean lawyer won't let me help you out, match-maker style. So, if you're all that, go for it. If you're just ok, you can try. If you're in the not-so-much category, maybe you can cozy up with your ipod or kindle.

Q: My girlfriend just got a job at my company. Do I have to entertain her and take her under my wing all day long? It's already getting annoying!

A: You don’t have to take her all day long but you should make sure she’s ok every so often. Eat lunch with her, stop by her office once or twice and maybe call her once. Don't get the 24/7 syndrome where you're not into her by day or night!

Q: This totally hot girl works out at the gym I work at. I've been trying to help her and talk to her but she's not biting. Is it wrong to offer her a free training session?

A: I'd prefer you just ask her out instead of the free training. Coffee or drink is prob a good first step but know that she may say no and then you still have to see her at the gym. Be confident and make it casual so it's not too awkward. LMK how it goes.

A: You can either be really mature and let him know that you just didn't feel the chemistry, or you can just not text back and hopefully he reads between the lines. The former is definitely nicer but it's harder and sometimes you just can't motivate to be that nice!

Q: I can't tell if what is developing is simply a closer friendship, or something on a romantic level. I'm afraid to talk to him about my feelings because I've already been the one to express my interest twice before and I don't want to spoil the friendship or scare off the romantic relationship. The more I know him, the more I want to date him, but I don't want to wait around for nothing. Is it possible a guy can just need time and have to truly "ease" into a relationship, or is that just a sign that he's just not that into me?

A: I would let him make the next move at this point. You've done your part and he knows you're interested. Having said that, don't back up at all, just don't make another move until he gives you a reason to.

Q: A 'friend' of mine recently back stabbed me with a girl, we'll call her Julie. I was interested in Julie and one day saw my 'friend' talking to Julie so I asked him a few times if he was going after and he said no. Well on the day of her birthday I go to ask her out only to find out she has been seeing my friend. I also hear from her friends that my 'friend' told Julie that I wasn't interested in her. Now my 'friend' is seeing another girl on the side. What should I do; Blow up his spot, or leave it alone?

A: This friend kinda sucks. Is he still seeing Julie? If yes and you're still really into her, keep in touch with her but no need to full on blow up his spot or you may be seen as the bad guy. Either way, she'll figure him out soon and get rid of him. Then you can move in.

Q: We began discussing a serious relationship, had our first kiss
and more, then... she went to a wedding she has RSVPed for with her
ex-boyfriend, got drunk, and ended up sleeping with him.

Fast-forward three months: she's pregnant. She really seems to adore me and want me in her life very much. I'm really confused... I care for her a lot, as I have for quite a long time, but I just don't know how she could do what she did if she loved me like I loved her.

Thoughts?

A: She sounds like trouble! The cheating is really bad. The pregnancy with the ex just ties her back to him for a long time (assuming she’s having the baby). You can stick with her if you feel like it’s amazing but don’t assume it’s going to be the end all!

Q: Here's the full story. The girl with the "sort-of bf" and I play volleyball together on a weekly basis. Well, more recently, we decided to do a sprint triathlon. So, we are both doing this group workout program, and we've been out biking together a few times. We talk pretty regularly at workouts, and a little email in between. She seems to have gotten really friendly, wants to talk, tells me it's "always" nice talking to me, smiles at me, laughs a lot. . . Am I reading it wrong, and she just wants to do stuff with me, but nothing more? Also, what about the bf? If she was my girl, I wouldn't want her spending time alone with some other guy. I kind of want to go a little further, but don't know if I should just ignore the bf thing, or ask her about it. I don't particularly want to be used as a momentary plaything, but I would like to believe she's not that kind. I have a really hard time believing that girls are what they seem.

A: Sounds like trouble but could be worth a try. Sounds like she’s seeing another guy but not too seriously. She either said sort of boyfriend for your benefit because she’s interested or she’s actually just playing the field. Either way, go forward with caution. You may be the next ‘sort of boyfriend!

Q: My ex-girlfriend has recently come back into my life. We broke up because of my being in the army and the long distance, but left on good terms. She has recently gotten out of a long term relationship, but I think she is interested in starting things up again. How do I know for sure without jumping in too quickly or completely pushing her away?

A: If you were boy and girlfriend, can you just ask her? If that’s too scary, you should let it play out for a little longer. Just ask if she wants to hang out or go to dinner and see how she reacts. You can keep it casual and see what happens. Or you give her the ole, “too bad it didn’t work out for us. We were good!” and see how she reacts.

A: If you’ll have more fun with your sister than alone, then it’s fine! if there’s potential of meeting a girl there and you’re sister will get in the way, you may want to go alone...

Q: Hey DG!
So there is this really cute girl that i know at work, We've hung out as friends, with other friends before. She's got the best personality, really sweet and I think we would be a great couple.
She doesn't seem to get that I like her, Should I be more assertive and tell her?
What do ya think? Oo she's 18 (19 on the 19th) and i'm 23 if that matters.
Thanks!!

A: Are you getting a good read from her? Don’t expect her to make the first move but you don’t want to be too aggressive. Get a little more flirty and touchy and if she responds positively, ask her out!
Let me know what you think.

Q: What if my bf wears a gold chain that I can’t stand?!

A: You probably have to ignore it. You could say something if you know it’s not sentimental. If it is sentimental, he’ll probably like you less!

Q: So I met a girl at the climbing gym last week (finally!). She seemed really cool and we hit it off, I didn't get her number but asked if she was usually there on Tuesdays (yes) and told her I was sure I'd see her again. Today a buddy invited me to go wakeboarding with him tomorrow. I love to wakeboard and don't get to go that often, but it's either do that or go to the gym and maybe see this girl that might be worth pursuing. What to do!?!?

A: If you can wakeboard another day, go to the gym. If it’s a once in a while opportunity to wakeboard, do that and hope she’s there next week.
LMK how it goes!

Q: Dear DG,
When you go to the movies with a guy and you want to hold hands, how do you get him to do it? I spent the whole movie trying and he wouldn’t.

A: You either have to go for it and hold his hand or you graze arms on the arm rest or you just hope!

Q: How many times is too many to just get drinks with a guy? He won’t take me to dinner?!

A: The 3rd date should probably be something other than drinks. Dinner, movie, climbing – something more!

Q: How many guys is too many to sleep with? I’m 30 and think I have too many notches...

A: There’s no real number but if you think it’s too many, it probably is. Just make sure you don’t give away the cookies too early going forward so you don’t have to buy an oversized cookie jar. Sorry about that whole cookie thing.

Q: Went on a date last night and go way too drunk. It was bad and I think I embarrassed myself. What do I do? Call her, pretend it didn’t happen or assume we’re over and move on.

A: Call and apologize. Let her know it’s not your usual and ask for another chance. If she says no or screens and doesn’t call back, then go to option C.

Q: How many times a week should I see my girlfriend? She wants 7 nights. I say that’s too many!

A: I like my alone time too but when you’re in love, you’re in love and 7 nights seems about right. Sounds like she’s in love and you’re in like! Not a huge deal unless she wants to get married soon. Settle on 4-5 nights.

Q: I’m going out for “drinks” with a guy tonight but I don’t really drink! I can have 1 but then I’m done. Is it ok to only have 1 or is he gonna hate me?

A: Don’t have 2 if you can’t hold your liquor! Nothing worse than a drunk date. Just tell him you’re a lightweight and stick with 1.

Q: I hate my boyfriends dog. Hate hate hate. Ugh. He’s so annoying and sheds everywhere and barks constantly. What do I do? I hate going there

A: You can either spend most of your time at your house, you can keep being annoyed or you can learn to love him. Option B probably won’t work. People with pets love them as much as anything and take it very personally when you don’t like them. If at all possible, try to love the dog somehow – even a little.
