Q: Dating Girl,
Is it ok to date several guys at once, or is that shady? I'm not in a relationship with any of them, but they also don't know about each other. I guess I just don't know dating ettiquite so please instruct me.
A: How many is several? Less than 3 could be ok as long as no one thinks it’s exclusive. You have to keep your stories straight though. You’ll probably be telling the same story to the same guy, thinking you told it to another guy. Or you’ll think one guy told you something when it was really another guy.
Have fun. Be safe.

Q: Can I introduce a guy to my kids if we’ve only gone on 1 date?
A: You can, but he may run!! Wait a few more dates. It’ll probably scare him and the kids!

Q: This girl sent me flowers on Valentine’s. Do I have to ask her out now?
A: Don’t ask her out if you don’t want to – it’ll only get you deeper into stalker city. If you like her or think you may like her after a date, then go for it.

Q: I’ve been dying to ask my secretary out but is that bad form?
A: How long have you been thinking about it? If it’s been less than a month, then keep thinking about it and don’t act. If it’s been more than a month, then think about it for 2 more! It’s bound to not work out and then you’re out a secretary!

1. Dang DG, did you just say y'all? YUP!!! MY MOM’S SOUTHERN!
2. What's the best way to catch an opossum? GRAB IT’S TAIL WHEN IT’S NOT LOOKING.
3. Are you available? NOPE!
4. Who is "the girl" that Trapper talks about all the time? SHE’S GREAT. SHE’S THE GIRL YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT IN #9 – THE PONY TAIL GIRL!
5. What backpack should I get for school? Is it true that girls sometimes like a guy just because of his backpack? If so I need the one that will attract the most girls. GET A DAKINE OR BURTON PACK. DAKINE CAMPUS PACK IS COOL.
6. Have you ever been to Moosejaw the city? NOPE.
7. What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow? 2.
8. I'm tired of dressed up high heal 5'10" club going girls. I see a lot of cool ponytail athletic girls running when I'm out biking every day, but I don't feel like it's ok to stop them. Where else can I find them? YOU HAVE TO BE OUT JOGGING WITH THEM. GET TO THE SAME PACE THEN YOU CAN JOG AND SAY HI. OR FIND THEM ON TREADMILLS AND YOU CAN TALK ON THE MACHINE NEXT TO HER.
9. Are they the same girls as before just not all made up? YES, A LOT OF GIRLS LOOK DIFFERENT WORKING OUT AND WHEN THEY GO OUT AT NIGHT. YOU STILL MAY NOT WANT THE HIGH HEEL GIRL, BUT SHE’LL LOOK DIFF FROM WORKOUT STYLE.

Q: Dear Dating Girl,
What should someone do to forget about an ex? I feel sad pretty much every day that I used to be in love. It's been a long time, I don't regret ending that relationship, I think I have moved on, and I'm in a great relationship now. The only thing is that I can't get the past out of my mind. So I feel like all the symptoms of being over him are there but at the root of it all maybe I'm not? I feel dishonest. Any thoughts would help.
Thanks. You're the best.
A: Once you get in a new serious relationship where you’re really in love, you’ll find yourself thinking less and less about the ex. It’s basically just a void right now and you miss it being filled. It’s probably not really him, it’s just the lack of love.
The best way to get over an old habit is to replace it with a new habit! No rush, but get out there!!!
Hope that helps a little.

Q: Hey dating girl
I come to you again, but this time its a more serious question than ever before. I realize it may be very difficult or even immpossible to answer this but here it goes. I've been seeing my girlfriend for about 2 months, and i feel very strongly about her. And i feel crazy for saying this, but i think i love her. and i'm scared of two things, one is that she also feels very strongly but not love, and the other is that i sound desperate or like an idiot or nieve. But either way, she just does these things that are so nice and cute and i try to do everything i can to make her happy, and shes a really busy person, she has a ton of work all the time and a job and an intership, but she still makes time for me. and today, on her way home from her internship she stopped by and brought me a coffee - which i did for her last week- and i just feel like we're getting really close and my feelings are getting very strong. If this isn't love, i can't image how good love m ust feel. I'm head over heels for her. I have a hard time beliving you'll be able to answer this, but do you think this is love? what do you think i should do? should i go for it and tell her i love her? or def. not? Last night at dinner for valentines day, i just felt like the best couple and i was so happy all day today, i couldn't consintrate. AHHH what's your opinion dating girl?
A: You sound like a kid in a candy store! I love it!!! Two months is pretty quick and you’re definitely in honeymoon stage. You probably haven’t even gotten in a fight yet! In any case, it can for sure be love this early! Even if you are still honeymooning, you can know that you make each other happier than you’ve ever been! Do you spend all your time with each other? Do you talk 5 times a day? Do you call each other to tell the most minor details of the day because you just want to tell each other? Do you miss each other 3 minutes after you leave? If yes, yes, yes, yes, then go for it! If any no’s, then let me know the deets so I can better assess.
Keep me posted! Don’t keep me hanging on this one!

Q: I'm glad you're back, Dating Girl!
I see the ex-boyfriend everywhere. I still like him. He is over me. I want to be over him, but I'm not. How do I get over him?? I often go somewhere to get away, but something always makes me think of him. We just naturally cross paths a lot, no matter how much I try to avoid him. Please fix this for me!
A: Only you can fix this one. Go out with other guys. Get out there and find someone new to have a crush on and think about. Even if it’s just from afar!
The best way to get rid of an old habit is to find a new one.

Q: Hello Dating Girl,
I am going on a first date this weekend. Both of us are from Michigan, now living in Arizona. I am thinking of going on a hike, then somewhere to watch the Wings game (they are playing in Phoenix, but the game is sold out.)
Is hiking and hockey a good first date? I do know that she enjoys hiking.
A: Yes! I love it!! The only question is: how sweaty will she be after the hike? If she’s sweaty, she may not want to continue the date for a ton longer. So keep the hike casual – a non-sweater if you will.
Even if she pretends she doesn’t mind being out and sweaty, she’ll be more inclined to have a night on the town if she isn’t!!
Let me know how it goes!!

Q: So I have a friend who just recently asked me out for dinner a couple of times. Thinking it might have been a more friendly thing than anything i said alright. I know he's going to ask me out based on how he's acting, but my problem is I don't feel the same way for him as he does about me. How do I tell him I'm not interested without accidently hurting any feelings? Keep in mind I see him 4 times a week regularly through classes.
Thanks DG!
A: Toughie!
You can do 1 of a few things:
- Tell the truth – you’re not feeling it.
- Tell the truth – you just got out of a relationship and you’re not ready for anything new right now.
- Tell the truth – you have a bf
- Tell the truth – you’re interested in someone else right now and it wouldn’t be right
Or you can just run away.
Really though, you may have to choose #1 or some variety of #2,3, or 4 to make it a little lighter on his ego.
Let me know how it goes!!

Q: Hi Dating Girl,
Glad you're back! I am getting over an ex and really want to move on. On the other hand, I don't want to be the girl aggressively seeking a boyfriend.
What are ways to find a good middle ground?
A: Just go out and date. No need to necessarily find a bf out of it right away; just get out there and have fun.
You'll be moving on from the last guy and not settling into a new one (unless of course you fall madly in love!)

Q: Hey DG
Is it really a faux pas to kiss on the 1st date?
What should you wear on a first date so that the guy doesn't think you’re a hooch or a grandma?
THANKS!
A: If you’re feeling it, you can kiss, but don’t do more than that! Those never work out well. Sometimes the kissed guys don’t work out well either. But then again, the non-kissed guys can be just as fair-weathered!!
So kiss him if he leans in but keep it simple!
First date outfit for winter – Cute jeans and a sweater but not a turtleneck! Nothing too baggy either! I’m always a fan of a great pair of shoes or boots but the guys rarely notice!

Q: Yeah! Good news. He asked me to confirm our relationship on Facebook.
So it wasn't that bad after all. you were right. i just don't think he even noticed.
So any tips on making a long distance relationship work?
A: The most important thing in a LDR is to keep open communication and have total trust in each other. If those things aren't there, it's only a matter of time.
Make sure you talk and don't hide anything. Don't let frustrations build up.
Oh and frequent flier miles definitely help!!!

Q: If you've only been dating a girl a couple weeks and her birthday is coming up, what sort of present would be appropriate to get her(if any)? There's definitely a hint of "don't want to come on too strong too early" going into play here.
A: You could do a nice dinner and a great bouquet of flowers – red roses, tulips or hydrangea are good ones!
Or DVDs of her favorite movies or a TV show she’s been meaning to watch.
Or a couple lotions, lip stuff, etc from Sephora. Let me know if you need more specifics there – I have some faves!
Let me know what you decide!

Q: Dear Dating Girl,
Ok, so I met this girl about a year ago and we've gradually gotten closer and closer. She is truly amazing and all that good stuff. There have, however, been two hurdles that have kept us from moving together rapidly - she is moving to Europe for 9 months for a scholarship program AND, she has a boyfriend in Europe (although in a different country, so that's not horrible).
What do I do now to keep from pressuring her, but also to ensure that she doesn't forget the past two weeks (and the year leading up to the past 2 weeks) and how good we really are together. I'm planning to visit her twice over the time she's gone, so that's something...
Any suggestions?
A: Don’t forget you’re in the same position she is in. Your 9 months is valuable too. You may want to be breezy about the whole commitment thing too.
Also remember that she has another guy over there. He’s a lot closer when she gets lonely.
2 options:
You may want to take a break now. Let her go her way while she’s in Europe and then resume when she’s back. (Still visit and have a great time on your 2 trips there)
Or
You can talk as much as possible. Email a ton. And trust each other to stay faithful. I just don’t get why she’s with you if she has a bf in Europe. Makes me skeptical right off the bat.
Let me know what you decide!!

Q: There's a boy I really like....But I don't know if he likes me or not...
How do I get him to like me or see me as a somebody
A: Very tough. You have to just be yourself but get in front of him a lot! If he's eating on the south side of the lunch room, you should too. Don't be too obvious, but have some arranged bump-ins. (not literal bump-ins, just passer's bys)!!

Q: DG,
How much value do you think should be put on having a title and being "official"? A longtime friend and I have become very close lately and now our friends just assume that we're an item. All of our conversations and outings are pretty boyfriend/girlfriend-ish now, but we haven't actually discussed where we stand. What are your thoughts on this?
A: You should bring it up.
She’s definitely waiting for you to talk about it. Girls like titles. We want to know where we stand and where we’re going – at least most of us!
Be breezy about it though – nothing too overly official.
“So, should I start introducing you as my girlfriend now or what!?”
Let me know how it goes!!
