Q: Dear DG, I'm not even sure where to start. I'm still in love with my ex-boyfriend, and he still loves me. We cant get over each other but he can’t be with me either. He tells me i need alot of a attention, and patience. We get along great we have tons of fun together we have views and values in life. We dated for 5yrs and have been broken up for almost a yr. Tomorrow would have been our 6 yr. I really thought I'd marry him, so did our parents (by the way I'm 27 and hes 28) I dont want to get hurt anymore but I can't get over him is there anything I can do to get over him or to make this work? Please help thanks for listening.
A: You have to replace an old habit with a new habit. Find a new guy to like – even just a crush. Get into a new hobby – Yoga, Spinning, book club, cooking class, online dating – anything to occupy your time and kind of obsess about. Not sure if you still talk to him, but you should cut that off for a bit too. The main thing to get you over him will be to find the guy you’re really searching for. Then you’ll know.
Love the Madness,
DG
