Q: I've been dating my boyfriend for almost three years. I think we're going to get married. The problem is that my best friend really doesn't like him. When I try to talk to her about it she says, "I like him! He's a great guy!" but when he's around she is moody and withdrawn. When we invite her to go places with us she always makes up a reason not to come along. I don't want to alienate her or lose her friendship, but I'm afraid that might be inevitable if we get married. Any thoughts? By the way, you're awesome.
A: You can’t force it. She may not like him and that’s ok. Of course you want her to love him but if she doesn’t want to hang, you can’t make her. Just offer every so often and make sure you spend time with her when you’re not with him so she doesn’t feel like 2nd choice. You can’t be with her as much as you were 3 years ago, but don’t make her feel like you only have plans with her when he’s out of town.
Love the madness
You’re awesome too!
And congrats on the imminent engagement!
