Q: I've been dating this guy on and off for 2 years. we aren't the most conventional couple. we don't do the mushy gush, but we love each other. the first time we broke up it was over some friend of his that was a girl who was texting him while we were out partying. i was the bigger person two days later i made it sound like it was both of our faults. two weeks later him and two of his buddies took that girl and her friend on what was supposed to be our romantic vacation together. i was fine i was dating again and becoming happy again. well happier than i have been for awhile. he begged me to take him back and i did. the second time he pushed me away and i fought but in the end i was unhappy so i broke up with him. this time i wasn't the perfect person he knew. i wasn't gonna take care of him after all of that. i was moving away so he decided to move away. i wanted to say goodbye after all we had been together for two years. in the entire two years i'd dated him he said everyth ing i'd ever wanted him to say in those previous years. three weeks later he called...i took him back. he wants to be with me together forever. im not sure yet. our relationship isnt all that bad with us not caring about each other for the first year it was stressful i had major surgery and then was diagnosed with a heart problem. he went to every doctors appointment ever moment he was by my side. when i went into surgery he was supposed to be here but he was spending the summer with his dad. he said he'd come if he could. he didn't. he's lied, doesn't communicate with me sometimes. I'm not perfect. but both my family and my friends think I'm getting used. what do you think?

A: Sounds like a pretty volatile relationship. Not sure it’s the best for either of you. You seem to have the passion but not the trust. One is pulling while the other pushes. Is there a time when you’re just both in love and content?

Hard to know from this amt of info, but it sounds to me like you’re both trying to not get hurt first and if that means pushing the other away or closing off, then that’s what you do.

Sorry to be the messenger!
