Q: Hi D.G.,

You've given me such great advice in the past, I thought why not give it another shot.

I have been with the same man in a committed relationship for nine months now. When I bring up living together or anything about the future, he says he's not ready. When I mention that I dont need those things now, that I would just like to know that's where we might be headed down the road, he just always says " I don't know ". He's 34 and I'm 29. I feel at this point in life he should have some idea as to what he wants. Do I move on, or do I wait it out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated for my confused brain. Thanks!

A: Sounds like he’s having fun but not ready to really settle down yet. You should ask him straight up. Just ask if/ when he sees himself getting married – not necessarily to you, but when? If he says he doesn’t know or no time soon, or he’s not thinking about it now, then you should ask yourself if you’re fun too or if you need that long term commitment soon. If you’re fine taking it 1 day at a time and seeing how things develop, then stick with it and enjoy.

Hope that helps!

Love the Madness,
DG
