Q: Hey DG- I'm in a debate with a friend and would like an expert opinion. If you go on a date with a sketchy guy, [Not for website: I mean like an alcaholic, assholic, drug dealing frat boy with an apartment off campus even though we go to an all-residential college] is your integrity in any way compromised? I'm inclined to say no, you are who you are regardless of your company. My guy friend thinks when you go out with a sketchball, you have to ignore his negative characteristics in order to isolate the qualities of the person that you do approve of, and making this distinction compromises your integrity. What's your thought?
A: I don’t think you have to look past his druggie stuff – maybe you’re attracted to the bad boy. If you have to ignore a part of him, I think that’s worse than liking all of him and accepting that.
No one is perfect and that’s fine. If you’re pretending he’s something he’s not, thing’s can’t go on forever.
Make sense?
Let me know what you think!
Love the Madness,
DG
